Jade - just one step away from performing at the O2 arena!

Sixteen year old Jade Donno from Sturmer has made it through to the next round of the Open Mic UK 2010 talent competition.  Jade will perform live at the Area Finals at the Bedford Corn Exchange on 28th November at 1pm.

Jade won her place at the Area Finals after performing her rendition of Adele’s “To make you feel my love” to an appreciative audience at the Live Regional Finals at the Corn Exchange in Ipswich last weekend.

The panel of judges at Ipswich, including Jenny Lock from Love Music 24, had the following comments on Jade’s performance “Very warm and natural performance. Good passion.  Nerves made some tuning issues, but strong, confident performance.  She’s got it!”

Jade comments, “I was a little nervous before the performance but more than anything I was just excited to be there and to get the opportunity to sing again. It was brilliant to see my family and friends in the audience, all there to support me.

I was really pleased with the comments from the judges.  Overall they are very positive and have given me more confidence and encouragement for the next stage of the competition.  I love singing and I am at my happiest when I am on the stage performing.  I can’t wait for the next round in Bedford – that is all that is stopping me from singing live on stage at the O2, one of the UK’s top live music venues!”

Jade also won the Ipswich Exposure Award and a prize of £250.  The Exposure Award was given to the entrant who had gained the most publicity in the run up to the Regional Live Final.  Jade had a press release published in the Haverhill Weekly News, Haverhill Echo, East Anglian Daily Times, Suffolk Free Press, The Best of Haverhill and Haverhill UK and was actually the cover girl for the winter edition of the Haverhill Life Magazine!

The overall winner of Open Mic UK 2010 will be offered a recording contract, with up to £30,000 investment. They will also have the opportunity to tour across the UK.

Jenni Donno, Jade’s mother explains, “Open Mic UK has said that they are searching for an act that not only has the live ability to impress an audience and industry judges but an act that has the potential to become a professional recording artist, this is exactly what Jade wants to do. We would like to thank the local press and media for their support of Jade, without their coverage Jade would not have won the Exposure Award for Ipswich.”

You can buy tickets to see Jade perform at the Area Finals from Paul Donno on 01787 281688 or from Jade via her Facebook page.  Jade needs to continue to raise her profile offline and online, her online presence contributed to her winning the Exposure Award.  If you haven’t already “liked” Jade’s Facebook then please look her up on Facebook and help this local teenager to claim her place at the O2.  You don't have to have a Facebook account to do this.
