A deal has been struck between St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Poundstretcher which will see a prominent high street retailer bringing new jobs to Haverhill early in the New Year.
The former Coop site on Jubilee Walk is a gateway to the town centre and has been identified as a key development site in the recently adopted Town Centre Masterplan.
Cllr Alaric Pugh St Edmundsbury Borough Council Cabinet member for Planning and Growth said,
‘It is great to see this site occupied at last, bringing more shopping choice to the town centre, providing local jobs for local people and strengthening the retail economy.’
Martin Collinson, Poundstretcher’s Company Secretary, said,
‘We are delighted to be opening a store in Haverhill. It is a great town, full of potential and we look forward to offering residents our wide range of quality products at market beating prices. We are also delighted to be offering employment opportunities in the town. We are now getting to work on the fit out and will be opening our new store as soon as possible.’
