Sometimes with all the rushing about and worrying about getting everything done to create the ‘perfect’ Christmas, we risk missing the season altogether.

Gather the family together, see whats going on and start making memories.

Say hi to Santa

If you haven’t seen Haverhill Round Table’s Santa Sleigh on its rounds so far, there’s still time to catch him. Not only is he raising money for great local causes, it gives the little ones time to put in any last minute requests! Find him here:-

  • Thursday 18th December - Kedington
  • Saturday 20th December - Haverhill High Street
  • Monday 22nd December - Strawberry Fields
  • Tuesday 23rd December - Roman Way

He’s behind you!

Nothing say’s it’s Christmas more than the fun and frolicks of a good Pantomime. And this year our truly British tradition brings Jack and the Beanstalk to Haverhill Arts Centre courtesy of That’s Entertainment Productions.

Everything you expect from a panto and more is to be found in this show, including familiar faces from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and BBC TV’s Really Wild Show, with Howie Watkins hilariously portraying Dame Sarah Trott. Follow Jacks fortunes, and misfortunes as he tries to win the heart of the beautiful Jill, doing battle with Haverhill’s notorious giants and villains. Dazzling costumes, live music and a show full of belly laughs make this an unmissable event for the whole family.

Last year’s Panto was almost sold out, so to make sure of your seats we are urging people to book now, particularly if you are bringing a group. Performances daily from December 19th 2014.

Don’t miss your favourite seats! BOOK NOW!

A classical treat

If you’re after some purely grown up time, something a little more refined, look no further than Sturmer Hall’s Lakeside Pavilion Concert Hall, which will play host to Britain's best-selling classical music artist Russell Watson.

Two hours twenty minutes of ‘the People’s Tenor’ at his finest, Russell Watson has previously performed before the Queen, the late Pope John Paul ll and a host of dignitaries the world over. The man who sells out Stadiums worldwide concludes his 2014 national tour right here in Haverhill, and it’s a show not to be missed.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing!

If you like your music with a traditional, festive feel then on Sunday 21st December Haverhill Silver Band and Haverhill Operatic Society will be performing at a Christmas Carol Service at the Old Independent Church, Hamlet Road, Haverhill.

The service takes place from 8:00pm until 9:00pm and tickets are just £6.

And if you prefer to participate rather than just observe, head to Haverhill High Street on Saturday 20th December between 11am and 12 noon to join in the carolling with St Mary’s Choir and their Musical Director Richard Dart.

You don’t need to be Russell Watson or indeed Katherine Jenkins, you just need bags of enthusiasm and a whole heap of Christmas cheer!

And after you’ve sung your little heart out you may well be in the mood for family Christmas time at Sutton Hoo.

From 11am until 4pm relax in the authentic 1930’s style of Mrs Pretty’s house whilst being entertained by choirs and musicians.

Fun, food and fancy gifts!

If you’ve left your shopping to the last minute, then surely there is simply no time to fit in this festive fun, right? Wrong! Combine the two at Stonham Barns Christmas Craft Fair and Farmers Market.

Not only will you find unique, affordable gifts on the huge range of craft stalls, there is temptation all around on the seasonal food stalls. Fill your tum and stock up your cupboards with delicious Christmas fare you won’t find in the supermarkets.

Bring the whole family and have a great day out on Saturday 20th from 9am until 5pm or Sunday 21st between 10am and 4pm.

Get crafty!

For those who want to be more hands on you can get creative at the drop in Christmas Workshops at East Town Park. Make reindeer food and Christmas decorations, and work off some of that excess energy enjoying festive activities in the park!

Take the kids on Monday 22nd December 2014, 10:30am until 3:30pm or Tuesday 23rd December 2014, 10:30am until 3:30pm and fill those hours as their excitement builds.

Christmas needs to be about doing as well as buying, about spending time with each other not just spending money on each other. Haverhill prides itself on offering good old fashioned family fun when the simplest things can create the happiest memories.

You can find details of all the above activities, and more, on thebestof Haverhill’s Events pages. Please click here to find out more about the Christmas festivities taking place in and around Haverhill during December 2014.
