The University of the Third Age is an independent, national institution with groups throughout the country. It aims to provide opportunities for those who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in reqular employment to pursue and share skills, interests, knowledge and hobbies with each other.
U3A activities offer a good excuse to get out of the house and meet people. Don't let the word "University" put you off. There are currently 44 interest groups and many are by no means academic.
There are well attended monthly meetings, open to the whole membership, with guest speakers. Members meet for tea and coffee beforehand, browse the book exchange and meet old and new friends.
The monthly meetings take place on the last Tuesday of every month at the Haverhill Arts Centre, starting at 10:30 am. The hall is open from 10am for coffee etc.
