Aldercar Community Language College Law and Public Services students recently took a trip to the cells at Ripley Police station, for a guided tour and explanations of police powers provided by Sgt 1777 Sally Turner.
Students studying BTEC units relating to the effects of Crime, Police Powers and Custodial Care went up to the custody suite at Ripley, which is now only used as an overflow, on 30th November.
The tour included a walk through as a detainee as well as an explanation of not only the police powers, but also of the duty they owe to those in their care. Students were able to taste the meals served in custody as well as see the safety clothing and evidence collecting devices used there.
