Three recent incidents have occurred in the Heanor area where the brake pipes of cars appear to have been tampered with.
One occurred on Stainsby Avenue overnight between Friday 7th and Saturday 8th March; the other two occurred on Burnthouse Road and Ray Street overnight between Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12thMarch.
Two similar spates occurred in October and June last year.
Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and urging residents to report anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles.
PC Emma Marshall said: “Fortunately no one has been hurt by this reckless behaviour, but the consequences could have been much more serious, and potentially fatal.
“There does not seem to be any motive or connection behind these incidents but we are doing all we can to find out who is responsible and will take positive action.”
Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police on 101, the non emergency number, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
