During the weekends of 8th/9th, and 15th/16th of October, Heanor Swimming Club and the Swimming Teachers Association collaborated to deliver four different training courses to a group of volunteers from Heanor Swimming Club.  The courses ranged from aquatic rescue skills to three different levels of swimming teaching.

The four days started off with instruction in lifesaving and safety training around a pool environment together with resucitation techniques.  By completing this module, the candidates achieved the NaRS qualification which is required  in order to volunteer on poolside.

This was then followed by tutor Sarah Butler skilfully delivering the three different levels of swimming teacher certificate, from Student Teacher to Full Swimming Teacher.

In total 19 volunteers from the club received an element of training with 7 young members completing their Student Qualification, 9 members their Basic Qualification, 1 becoming a Fully qualified teacher and 2 Extending their NaRS qualification.

HSC appreciate the time everyone gave to attending the course and all the pre-course evaluation.  We would like to congratulate them on their achievement and thank them for their continued volunteer work at the club.
