Nigel Mills MP welcomed yesterday’s Investing in Britain’s Future announcement by the Treasury, which outlined the Government’s investment strategy for Britain and detailed information about the future of Amber Valley’s infrastructure.
The announcement brought forward the completion date for the Priority School Building Programme by two years. This programme includes rebuilding at Alfreton Grange Arts College, to be completed by 2017. Also confirmed was the bringing in of junctions 28 to 31 of the M1 to the Managed Motorways scheme – involving the use of the hard shoulder as a lane – to be completed by 2015-16.
Mr Mills commented: “The announcement shows that despite difficult challenges, we’re investing in UK infrastructure. I was especially pleased about the good news for Amber Valley.
“Having visited Alfreton Grange Arts College, I have seen the state of some of the buildings and spoken to staff, who are very keen to get the building work they done as quickly as possible. This is great news – it means that the building will be guaranteed to be completed two years early.
“The confirmation of the use of the hard shoulder of the M1 between junctions 28 to 31 by 2015-16 is great news for road users and the local economy. Congestion will be eased, meaning domestic and business users can get to where they need to be quicker.”
