There's something for everyone in our new season of adult education courses.

The autumn brochures offer hundreds of courses on a variety of subjects including those that lead to new qualifications, improve essential skills or simply offer an opportunity to discover new hobbies and interests.

There are eight regional brochures − Derbyshire Dales, High Peak, Amber Valley, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Erewash, South Derbyshire and North East.

Each offers a wide-range of work-ready skills, many of which are free or subsidised.

Courses start in September and include English, maths, ICT, first aid, food safety and health and safety in the workplace. There are also courses where the whole family can join in, including sessions in cookery and crafts.

Councillor Kevin Gillott, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

"In these difficult economic times we're pleased to be able to continue funding for a range of courses this autumn.

"If you've thought about expanding your learning, skills or interests get in touch to find out more."

There's plenty happening over the summer too at our Eco Centre, at Middleton-by-Wirksworth, including courses on healthy living, construction, dry stone walling, pottery, weaving, digital photography and hedge laying.

Get an adult education brochure from any of our libraries, County Hall reception in Matlock, or direct from your local adult community education centre.

Brochures can also be accessed at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/adulteducation (opens in a new window) or from Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.
