Last week I had the pleasure of being one of the first visitors to the Spoting Life Henley Exhibition at the River & Rowing Museum. The exhibition showcases all of Henley's sporting clubs, including memorabilia from the Henley Regatta. The exhibition also includes items of national interest including the football from the 1908 London Olympics and the rugby ball that England won the Rugby World Cup with.
The Exhibition is the first of 100 being staged around the country in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. For me I love the old photographs, programmes and sporting equipment of the local Henley teams. Being a member of Henley Cricket Club I was very interested in the cricket bats and old photos. Great to see the new pavilion taking shape at the cricket ground as the new season approaches.
The Henley Exhibition runs until July 11th and I strongly recommend a visit, especially if you are involved in any one of our many sports clubs in Henley. Rugby, rowing, football, golf, hockey, cycling and cricket are all represented. Para olympians are also included and I met Graham Edmunds who was proudly displaying his two Olympic gold medals.
