Hereford Cathedral’s continues their lunchtime piano recitals on Friday 12th April where keyboard finalist in 2012 BBC Young Musician of the Year, Victor Lim will perform a selection of his favourite music.
Victor says “I'm really looking forward to my performance at Hereford Cathedral.
Having been a student at Wells Cathedral School, I feel very much at home playing in churches and cathedrals and I enjoy it hugely. There is something inspiring and spiritual about the experience. I'm sure playing at Hereford, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the country, will be a unique event for me”.
When asked about his experience on Young Musician of the Year, Victor said “Performing at the Keyboard Final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year was a great experience. The thought of being on the television was certainly scary but I surprisingly enjoyed the whole filming process! The level of excitement and nervousness was unlike any other competitions I had done before but I gained a lot from this”.
“At the moment, I'm concentrating on improving my piano playing and expanding my repertoire. Ultimately I would like to be a teacher. I find it extremely enjoyable, satisfying and interesting. I haven't done much of it but I try to do it whenever I get the opportunity".
Victor will be playing the new Yamaha Grand piano which was kindly donated to the cathedral by the Friends of Hereford Cathedral at the end of 2012. The recital will take place in College Hall starting at 1.15pm
Recital Admission is free with a retiring collection. For details of all the services and events happening at the cathedral please check out our website www.herefordcathedral.org or do please telephone 01432 374200 for more information.
