Interesting little museum, beautifully kept and ityems well labelled.
We were just 2 adults on a rainy afternoon waiting to go somewhere else, It kept us happy for most of an hour. I am sure children would enjoy it as well.

Visited on a wet Sunday afternoon. It's free to get in, and when we visited they had a craft activity too. They have buckets to fill with magnifying glasses and torches to look around the museum with, with a list of things to look out for. The museum itself is small with lots of fairly recent stuff upstairs (to make parents feel even older), lots to interest our 3 and 5 year olds. Star attraction is the play shop with till and play - complete with aprons, shopping bags, money.... Outside is very pretty (even in the rain!) near the river, and there are plenty of cafes - we went to Langleys (cash only) which was perfect for everyone.

A school holiday visit. Great activities and attentive staff. My child had a very busy morning. Central to town and so lunch out as well completed our day.

I am a resident of Hertford so go to this museum lots - but wanted to share on Trip Advisor so that visitors to Hertford get to know about it and can make the most of this excellent resource. Museum has a variety of collections - including lots on the history of Hertford - and a regularly changing exhibition on the ground floor. There is a great shop on the ground floor for cards and presents and internet access. Check online for children's activities and talks held at the museum. Entrance is free, but donations are always welcome.

We didn't even know there was a museum in Hertford so this was a pleasant little find. Not the biggest museum you'll find but still interesting to wander around and use up a bit of time

Took my 4.5 year old granddaughter to their half-term holiday club on a wet day and she loved it. Did some drawing, colouring and made a duck. Cost £1.50 per session and well worth it.
