We’ve had a roarsome day at Herts zoo today. Although the weather wasn’t in our side, it was still very enjoyable and educational.
My daughter is obsessed with the One Zoo Three programme and acted as your guide for our whole day. We met all three brothers too which was amazing for her to speak to them and have a picture taken.
The zoo isn’t the largest but that’s not a bad thing at all, you can see that everyone there is passionate about the animals in their care and they benefit from spacious enclosures as well as constant care and maintenance. It’s great to see the zoo developing, you can really see where the money you pay is going. In fact I think ticket prices should be higher if anything. Everything was very accessible and well laid out, there was a different theme or species of animal around every corner and always something to explore. We loved the play area and the dinosaur section in particular, the sounds and movement of them really make it extra special.
The eateries with the viewing windows are a really nice touch, you can tell that everything has been very well thought out throughout the park.
The only thing we’d change about the whole day is that it’d be nice if all of the animals were labelled with their pet names aswell… after all, the animals are as much celebrities now as the brothers C.A.T.
Great to meet you guys and please keep up the good work. Kudos to you all for helping with such great family time and memories.
See you again soon

A great zoo visit for the family a little splash park there. A mini train to take you around the dinosaur area that you have to pay for even though you payed over £25 per adult or kid to get into. Lots of animals to see a soft play for the kids to burn off steam and a few playgrounds as wellVisited on

What a wonderful zoo! Truly cannot believe we have not visited sooner. Highly recommend this place for a visit, especially if you have young children! Heads up, this will be a long review...

The car park has plenty of parking, with an overflow carpark across the road from the main entrance. However, I would say crossing the country lane/road from the overflow carpark did not look majorly safe. It could do with some form of speed control on the road or a dedicated crossing for pedestrians.

Also in the main carpark, there wasn't really a crossing or dedicated pathway to utilise when walking from your car to the actual queuing section to enter the zoo. So people just seem to meander through the carpark while people are driving. The entrance to the zoo was easy and the staff were friendly.

The dinosaur walk was genuinely wonderful and far exceeded any of my expectations. Our children absolutely loved it. The train ride through the dinosaur section was ok. I do not think it's worth the money though. Other zoos offer these style of rides that last longer and included more things like interactive experiences with animals etc and they don't charge extra for them.

We ate lunch in the Pangaea Restaurant near the dinosaur walk and it wasn't too bad at all. There was plenty of seating and the service wasn't slow. We all enjoyed our food and didn't manage to finish it all, so portions were more than ample.

There seemed to be plenty of activity areas, climbing frames/park apparatus for the children. We didn't utilise all of them but they all looked great. Plenty for them to do here.

Something not many people review but the toilet facilities here are, in my opinion, excellent. Everywhere we seemed to be, there was always a toilet only a short walk away. They were dotted about all over the zoo and I'm pretty sure almost every one had baby change facilities which was amazing. Truthfully, for people with young kids like us, it is so important.

Now to the animals. We had an excellent experience. The animals looked healthy and happy to me. I've read some negative reviews about the size of some of the enclosures but I did not see any problems. I'm a big cat fan and this zoo did not disappoint. We managed to get great views of all of the big cats, except the jaguar as we just missed them but obviously this is not the zoos fault. There was a jaguar talk on but we just missed it due to timing on our part. I managed to get a photo of the tiger jumping up at the glass at me, which was one of the best experiences of my life. Also got to see the beautiful snow leopard which for me was just bliss. My only gripe was in the lion section, you walk into an enclosed area which has some small glass viewing windows but every one of the windows is scratched so severely from the lions side that they are hard to see through. They need replacing but there are still other ways to see the lions.

I've also got to mention the bird section. We managed to watch the 3pm bird talk/display and it was brilliant! Arguably the best I've seen at a zoo. I've got to commend whoever designed this area of the zoo. Having the display section in the centre, with the birds aviary's around it is simple but genius. The team and how they work together in the display is also of high quality. I would say make time for this show if you visit. It's worth it!

Overall we had an absolutely wonderful day. I will be recommending this place to all of my friends and family and we will be visiting again very soon!

We took our little boy for his 6th birthday, one 5 hour journey and a vile hotel later we arrived and it did not disappoint!!! Not only are the enclosures immaculate, they are for the animals not humans and it shows compared to other places we have visited, we saw everything, and it was so refreshing seeing habitats created for each animal with enrichment in mind. The dinosaurs were an amazing bonus!! And we got to meet Aaron and Cam who were so kind to our little boy and took the time to speak to him and listen! Amazing value for money, super accessible for those with different needs !!

We visited Hertfordshire Zoo for our daughters 11th birthday along with our 15 year old son. Along with the zoo, there is also Dinosaur World. The dinosaur animatronics were some of the best we have seen and the 'selfie' opportunities were brilliant. The only negative for this was having to pay an additional £8 for the train ride which lasted 3 minutes. There was a shop in dinosaur world which had a wide variety of merchandise to suit all budgets. The zoo itself was brilliant, however if you are coming expecting to see elephants, rhinos and your typical zoo animals you will be disappointed. The species they did have were fantastic. Our daughter wanted to see the capybaras as she loves them. I wanted to see the meerkats and red pandas, we all wanted to see the sunbears (beautiful) and snow leopards (we didnt see them). There were raised platforms at certain exhibits which gave a different perspective and were accessible to all. The main zoo shop had an extensive range of merchandise , again to suit all budgets. The refreshments were reasonably priced, £7. 36 for 4 cans of drink. Toilets were plentiful and distributed throughout the park. There was a lovely undercover picnic area by the zoo shop. The quiet flight bird show was superb, especially for those with sensory needs (like our daughter) and made it inclusive and accessible to all.
One thing we would have liked to have seen was water stations where you could refill water bottles, especially for hot days like today. The only real negative for us was leaving the zoo to get back to the car park. We felt that crossing that road was a bit dangerous especially if you have really young children.
