Hertford Play Day is organised by Hertford Town Council and takes place on Wednesday 2nd August from 11 am – 4 pm in the Town Centre.

As part of the national Play Day initiative, the Town Council has organised an abundance of activities, most of which are free of charge or low-cost to participate in.

Free Activities & Shows Include:

  • Magic shows
  • Circus workshops
  • Balloon modelling
  • Garden Games
  • Market Stalls and activities

The Mayor of Hertford, Councillor Vicky Smith, will be hosting the annual Children’s Cupcake Decorating Competition on Fore Street between 11 am and 3 pm. There will also be an Art activity stall opposite the cake stand!

Salisbury Square will be the destination for fans of magic shows, and for those wanting a balloon model then Bircherley Green is the place to be.

Maidenhead Street will be alive with stalls and a BBQ whilst, at the Castle, kids can join the circus or play with the novelty garden games.

Visit www.hertford.gov.uk/events or visit the Town and Tourist Information Centre closer to the event date for a programme that will detail the full list of promotions and free activities throughout the day.

Cllr Ann Woodward, Chair of Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, said: “If you’re looking for a free fun event to keep your little ones busy then look no further. There are all kinds of activities on offer at various locations around the town. Do come and enjoy the day!”
