The Hertford music legacy continues as the new kids on the block, The Folk break onto the scene with a bang! 

The folk are a local girl group who attend Freemans College, Buntingford. The group consists of Lucy (main vocals), Rose (ukulele and backing vocals), Sam (violin, backing vocals and ukulele) and Lauren (guitar) each bringing their own individual style and talent to the group.

Having been friends for the last 8 years it wasn’t until Aril 2011 that the girls were formally noticed as a group after they performed Mumford and Sons song White Blank Page at their school music project.

Less than a year after they were considered a band the girls have already released their first single, gained their own hair sponsors (Dead Swanky), footwear sponsors (Dr Martens) and clothing sponsors (Street Boutique).

Having performed locally at venues like the Hertford Corn Exchange they have progressed to bigger venues such as the Troubadour, Earls Court but one day hope to play at Glastonbury and the O2 arena. The girls would love to support the likes of Rizzle Kicks and Laura Marling. Also Florence and the machine, who the girls sound has been compared to.

Their songs have already had airplay from radio stations such as BBC Radio 6, BBC 3 Counties and Jack FM, they have received some great reviews...

Each one of the girls is involved in writing every song, their favourites being Wait Forever (the follow up single to when it rains) and creeps. Their song writing talents extend to writing songs for and up and coming play, The Last Witch of Walkern.
