Well The Hertfordshire now has a world number one! Well that should really read Hertfordshire now has a world number one golfer!
Yes! Luke Donald became the 5th new world number one in 6 months on Sunday after a sudden death playoff against Lee Westwood at Wentworth in Surrey.
Donald from Hemel Hempstead took the crown after a tense and nail biting final round against the former number one and fellow Englishman lee Westwood in the PGA Championships this weekend.
This is great news for British golf and shows what an important part Hertfordshire plays in the sport. Of course former Welwyn Garden City resident Nick Faldo hails from Hertfordshire, and now coupled with Luke Donald it’s more of a question of which Hertfordshire town rather than which country will produce the next world number one!
