Ideas for giving some love back to your Mum

So okay flowers and chocolates and all that are very nice but lets face it, they’re not very imaginative are they?  Wouldn’t your mum appreciate a little more thought and effort?  So below are some suggestions in case you’re stuck.

1.  Homemade hamper with a selection of goodies you know she likes or it could be themed if she has a particular hobby for example:

  • Things for the garden if she’s a gardener eg. packets of seeds, gardening gloves, twine, marker sticks, hand cream, a dibber, plant ties and a planting diary, all in a trug as your hamper.
  • If she enjoys making cards or other crafty things then include a stamp (don’t buy a cheapo one as they are a waste of money), scrapbook paper, ribbons, peel-offs, the list is endless and items are easy to source.
  • You could theme around her favourite colour eg. Pink so it could include highlighter pen, nail varnish, strawberry flavoured sweets or marshmallows, pink fluffy socks or slippers, a pretty tea cup and saucer or mug and an attractive candle.

2.  For something different to a hamper maybe a piece of jewellery – especially made for your mum! If you like this idea then get along pronto to Lance James the Jewellers in Hertford and ask for Jackie, she’ll discuss a design with you and make it in the shop, but don’t leave it long as it’s not something that can be done in five minutes.  Check out their 146 reviews here: www.thebestof.co.uk/hertford-and-ware/lance-james-the-jewellers-in-hertford/

3.  Alternatively you could take her out for the day, most mum’s would really love spending a day with their adult children and maybe it doesn’t happen very often so think what it would mean to her.  If you’re stuck then the following is on around that time:

  • Mother’s Day Tea at Knebworth House Gardens and Park
    Sun 31 March 2019, 12.00pm or 3.00pm
Knebworth House, Knebworth, Hertfordshire, SG1 2AX
    www.knebworthhouse.com/events
Cost: £28 per person, £12.50 per child up to 13 years

  • A spa day – so many to choose from.
  • Does she love llamas?  If so then a trip to The Llama Park in East Sussex is well worth a visit http://www.llamapark.co.uk/
4.  You could include in your trip out breakfast or lunch, afternoon tea or dinner somewhere she wouldn’t usually go.

I hope I have given you some ideas for spoiling your mum, personally, I’m going to be doing as many of the above as I possibly can – it’ll be great going out for the day just the two of us.
