Interesting story in The Mercury this week. The boroughs of East Herts and Broxbourne have had nearly 100 drain covers stolen over the last few weeks at a cost of almost £30,000 to the taxpayer.
Not only is this theft running up an extremely big bill but is also extremely dangerous.
Police urge residents around the area to report any suspicious activity regarding drain covers by calling 999 to report crimes in progress or call the non-emergency number on 0845 3300222.
All missing drainage covers should be reported to the highways team on 0300 1234047.
