Welcome to the Hertford blog.
After much speculation and anticipation about the dress, car and weather, the Royal Wedding has finally happened. What a beautiful day it was too!
William looked brilliant in full miltary regalia flanked by his brother and best man Prince Harry who looked equally grand.
And then came Kate. In an exclusive Sarah Burton dress and driven to the Abbey in the same Rolls Royce attacked last year by protesters, she looked absolutely stunning. Slowly led down the long aisle by her Father Michael Middleton she eventually stood alongside her husband to be.
The ceremony itself was as grand as can be expected and the crowds were expectant as William and Kate made their way back to Buckingham Palace in a 1902 State Landau Carriage to make their appearance on the palace balcony.
After the incredible scenes of hundreds of thousands rushing down The Mall to get close to the palace balcony William and Kate joined by their families, treated the 2 billion watching to 2 kisses and a flyover of wartime planes and modern jets, which later could be seen over Hertford and East Herts.
Once the crowds had subsided a little and the afternoon reception had taken place, William and his new bride, Kate pulled out of the palace in his Fathers Aston Martin followed by trails of balloons.
This showed a new modern face to the monarchy and was a great way to end the celebrations.
All in all it was a great day and the weather held out too! I hope you all enjoyed the day too and maybe even attended one of the many Hertford street parties that happened.
Finally we here at The Best Of Hertford would like to wish William and Kate all the best in their long and happy marriage.
