Participants will set off from Northwood-based Michael Sobell Hospice at 9.00am on the day, and will put their foot power to the test along a picturesque route through local countryside, as well as Northwood’s scenic canal. Three-mile participants will then be transported from Springwell Lock – their finish line - back to base at the Hospice for well-deserved refreshments and a souvenir certificate, with seven-milers completing a circular route back to base.
Entry costs £10 per adults. Children under 16 cost £5 each. A specially-priced family ticket of £20 is also available (two adults, two children). Online entry is now open via the charity’s website at:www.michaelsobellhospice.co.uk, or simply pick up a registration form in any of the Michael Sobell Hospice shops in Northwood, Ruislip and Eastcote.
“We last held this event three years ago, so are delighted to see the return of the annual sponsored walk in aid of Michael Sobell Hospice,” commented Sam Heggie, MSHC PR & Marketing Manager. “If you like walking or taking the dog out for a walk on a Sunday morning, this event will be perfect for you. All ages and abilities are welcome to take part, and the route is both buggy and dog-friendly too. It’s a real family fun event, and all walkers should have finished their walking challenge by lunchtime, so can complete this special day by getting together with family and friends as a well-earned lunchtime treat.”
She added: “Our last event helped to raise £5,523 for Michael Sobell Hospice, so we hope that we can smash this amount by encouraging all our walkers to fundraise for as much sponsorship as possible. All profits from the walk go directly to caring and supporting people facing life-limiting illness in our local area.”
The very first Sponsored Walk event in aid of Michael Sobell Hospice took place in 1984 and saw 400 walkers raising £800.
