New Parking scheme to start in Ickenham
Starting from Monday the 'stop and shop' scheme will be implemented in Ickenham for parking in front of the shops in Swakeleys Road.
After 18 months of negotiations between Hillingdon Council and Traders in Ickenham a parking scheme has been devised. From the Traders point of view they have been asking for better parking facilities to bring in more trade and new business.
Residents who live above the shops feel they might lose out on proper parking spaces for themselves.
One of the issues have been commuters using the local rail services parking outside the shops all day and using the spaces that could have been used for passing trade. The spaces will allow short term spaces for local shoppers with more spaces becoming available more regularly.
After the scheme has been introduced for six months a postcard survey will be delivered to local residents and traders for their views on how it has helped or hindered their position.
