The ‘Hospice Affinity Savings Account’, launched by Hinckley and Rugby Building Society (HRBS) in 2008, has generated a cash donation following its first full year of operation (1 December 2008 and 30 November 2009).

The £7,500 donation represents 1% of the total £750,000 balances held in the account. The amount donated has been divided equally between the three hospices - LOROS, Leicestershire and Rutland’s Hospice, Myton Hospice. These hospices cover the Society’s main areas of operation in Leicestershire and Warwickshire.

The hospices that care for patients at two centres in Coventry and Rugby, and Mary Ann Evans, in Nuneaton, have each received £2,500 towards their running costs, to add to the £1,000 they received early in 2009. This donation brings the total amount donated by Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, since the account was launched, to more than £10,000.

Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager for LOROS, said: “It is fantastic news that the Hospice Affinity Savings Account continues to support LOROS and its valuable care for patients in Leicestershire.

“The real benefit to us is that as the total balances in the account grows, so does the donation we receive at the end of each financial year and we hope Hinckley and Rugby’s savers will continue to support us in this way.”

Hinckley and Rugby Building Society Chief Executive Chris White commented: “Last year was very tough for savers due to the unprecedented low interest rate environment, so it is extremely pleasing to have seen the total balances invested in the Hospice Affinity Savings Account grow.

“We believe this demonstrates the support in the community for local hospices and the fantastic work they do, the vast majority of which is paid for from fundraising and donations.

“We hope that balances continue to grow during the coming year, allowing Hinckley and Rugby to make an even larger donation to these very worthy causes next year.”

This account with Hinckley & Rugby Building Society offers easy access to savings, can be opened with a minimum investment of £500 (maximum investment of £300,000) plus withdrawals can be made at any time without notice or penalty. The minimum withdrawal is £250 and only cheque withdrawals are allowed.

Further information about the ‘Hospice Affinity Savings Account’ can be found on the HRBS website at www.hrbs.co.uk or if you would like to speak to someone then do telephone Hinckley & Rugby Building Society’s investment department on their freephone number 0800 434 6343.
/c912afb2-f9c8-4ceb-ae32-2efd47724e8a.jpg/872422ad-3346-4dfe-ba46-c17933135eb1.jpg
