Hickley & Rugby Building Society were highly commended in the Excellence in Treating Customers Fairly Award and also highly commended in the Community Services Award.

Nicola Butterworth and Charlotte Bird from the Hinckley & Rugby’s mortgage department attended the City of London ceremony on behalf of the Society.

Joanne Atkin, Editor of Mortgage Finance Gazette, said:

“The judges were impressed with the way Hinckley & Rugby Building Society gets involved in the local community and the emphasis it places on treating customers fairly.  It’s great that staff members can volunteer their time to help in the community. The customer satisfaction rates of 100 per cent are very impressive which goes to show that local building societies play a valuable part in today’s financial services industry.”

Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Chris White said:

“Doing so well in both categories against some of the biggest names in banking and building societies reflects enormous credit on our staff. As a mutual, the Society is dedicated to being helpful, friendly and reliable – qualities which are highly valued when people are considering huge financial decisions such as mortgages. And we are committed to being a good corporate citizen as well as encouraging and enabling our staff members to be active good citizens too.”

Hinckley & Rugby’s pioneering Community First programme encourages all staff – including the chief executive – to spend up to three paid working days each year volunteering in the community. Since its launch in 1999, tens of thousands of hours of great work have been donated.
