Finding his feet in the new role as Director of Employer Partnerships at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College, Murrae Blair-Park is actively looking for ways to support local businesses and industry with Government funding for training. “We currently have access to funding but with the tightening of budgets due to the current economic climate it is hard to know just how much we will have in the future” says Murrae Blair-Park.
Murrae is very keen to get up a running as quickly as possible to ensure that he can make best use of Government funding to stimulate the growth and development of local businesses and industry. He would really like to hear from firms that have a specific training need to see how best his team of advisors and the college can help with that need.
There are a number of schemes that can be accessed to fund and provide training, such as …
European Social Funds - Funding available for employees wanting to gain their 2nd Level 2 qualification in
• Cleaning
• Driving Goods Vehicles
• Food & Drink
• House Keeping
• ITQ
• Multi skills hospitality
• Plant Ops (FLT)
• Security
• Warehousing & Distribution.
Train to Gain - A major government-led initiative to help businesses up skill their staff. Funding opportunities are available for a range of programmes for eligible candidates.
Apprenticeships - Opportunities for those aged 16-24 that offer a wide range of options and can start at anytime throughout the year. Apprenticeships are available for new Apprentices or existing employees.
Plus, many other ways in which the college can support your business to gain the competitive advantage that is achieved through a workforce with advanced skills and training.
The important thing here is dialogue. The college can only support local businesses and industry if they are aware of the needs. Murrae says “One of my primary aims in this new role at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College is to forge and develop links between the college and the local businesses and industries that provides the life blood of vital employment to the area. The clue is in our department’s title ‘Business Solution’ but to achieve this we do need to be as closely aligned with businesses as possible so that we can then be part of the solution.”
