Look no further than The Market Theatre, Hitchin - a small scale professional theatre located in the heart of Hitchin. The Theatre has a heavy influence of plays by new writers and uses a mixture of new aspiring thespians alongside established & professional theatre performers.

The Theatre and Cabaret Studio

The Market Theatre main auditorium is a wonderfully intimate venue seating between 51 and 68 people depending on the production and hosting a variety of genres from farcical comedy to terrifying thrillers.

The Market Theatre also has a Cabaret style studio venue, which is the home of their weekly ‘Cabaret Nights’ as well as the popular monthly comedy night ‘Mostly Comedy’. The candle-lit setting with tables and chairs presents a unique atmosphere for music and comedy. The studio is also available for hire for parties or meetings.

The Market Theatre, Hitchin Box Office opening times are as follows: 

• Thursday 6.30pm – 7.30pm
• Friday 6.30pm – 7.30pm
• Saturdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm

Outside of normal Box Office hours, please leave a message and your call will be returned and your theatre booking confirmed within 24 hours.

The Market Theatre Long Bar

Located on Sun Street, Hitchin The Long Bar, can be found upstairs at the Market Theatre. You can pop into the bar when you visit the theatre to see a show or just pop in for a beer or glass of wine at one of the finest bars in town!

The Long Bar serves a full range of alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks including bottled beers, wines & soft drinks. The bar is open as follows:

• Thursday: 6.30pm-11.30pm
• Friday: 6.30pm-12midnight
• Saturday evening: 6.30pm-12midnight

The bar is also open on other nights when there is a show on.

The Market Theatre Kids Club

Do you have any budding starlets? If so, The Market Theatre Kids Club may be ideal. The club meets at the theatre every Saturday and includes acting, movement singing, improvisation, character building and text work.
