Foggy start to the 2015 ‘Baldock Beast’, a challenging half marathon (that’s 13.1 miles/21Km in real money) in the countryside around the villages of Baldock, Wallington and Sandon.
The race was run by the sporty half of thebestofhitchin ,namely @keithyexley, obviously got nothing better to do on a cold Sunday morning in February!
With temperature of about 5 degrees celcius felt a bit underdressed in shorts and vest and so it took 5 miles or so to get warm, especially with the chill from the fog.
Was OK once we got going though and thoroughly enjoyed the very muddy bit in the middle.
Still, had a steady run and was able to make a few friends on the way round, coming in placed at 172 out of 320 in a time of 1:51:48 so slower than last year. Also placed 20th in my age group (Ancient) so happy with that.
Well done to the Baldock Town Centre Team that organised the event, and all of the sponsors that provided much needed refreshments, doughnuts and fruit at the end.
Roll on the Hitchin ‘Hard Half’ marathon
Best regards
Keith
