Even for those of us who aren't big drinkers, Hitchin boasts some pretty great pubs.
One of the best is The Half Moon and from Thursday 16 to Sunday it's putting on a Best of British Beer Festival.
They always stock some fine (apaprently) real ales and ciders. This week brings their passion to the fore, with more than 60 hand picked real ales, 20 ciders and perries and three craft key beers. There's a full set of tasting notes for the serious connoisseurs.
Curry night on Thursday 16 features home-made grub from 6-10pm.
If you're really keen, you can plan your tasting in advance by downloading the taster sheet.
Most of us will have never heard of the beers or their breweries, but whichever camp you fall into, there's bound to be something to suit your tastebuds.
