Today is Record Store Day 2014 and although we can't use the day to celebrate recorded music, maybe it's time to at least celebrate the great music that's going on in Hitchin.
Many of the pubs and clubs regularly feature live bands but the one venue that keeps regularly supporting live music is Club 85 on Whinbush Road.
Tonight's line-up featured four bands with different styles and audience appeal. All four had something to offer the crowd. Opening the night was Alex Bay, an extraordinarily talented singer/songwriter/guitarist with a strong history in bands around the town. He never fails to produce a great set and his version of 'What's Going On' tonight was simply beautiful.
Club 85 may seem a daunting place to visit for the first time, but you should give it a go one night. There are some great bands on and I, for one, think there's a lot of great music locally of which we should be proud.
