This Saturday saw the 40th anniversary celebrations of Charles Wilson Carpets at the top of Hermitage Road. The message spread quickly through the first sunny day in weeks, with balloons in the shop window and leaflets being given out to shoppers around the town.
'We have lots of special offers to mark the anniversary,' says co-founder Pamela Wilson. 'My husband, Charles, and I started the business because we both had experience in retail and he had specialised in flooring. Eventually our sons Adam and Mark joined the business and it's going from strength to strength.'
Sadly, Charles passed away some six years ago and Pamela has now retired, but the business retains the pride in a personal, individual service for every customer.
'We may be small, but we concentrate on giving our customers the best possible service in carpets and flooring,' continues Pamela.
