There was fun for old and young in Hitchin's Market Place today, as stalls sold Christmas decorations and gifts, as well as food and mulled wine to keep the spirits up.
Children's entertainers wandered around and the stage was filled with local choirs and music groups to bring everyone a little Christmas fun.
The shops were busy and all the restaurants and coffee shops seemed to be doing a roaring trade. The sun shone brightly and temperatures were above the seasonal norm, despite those harbingers of doom who'd suggested that we might see snow early in December.
It's not too late to get some real bargains in the local shops and bring joy to local businesses as well as those lucky recipients of your Christmas gifts!
