Winning artwork to transform local site

The proud winners of an art competition will soon see their designs transform the disused public toilet block on Bancroft in Hitchin. The contest, run by Rhythms of the World, Hitchin BID and Pots of Art, invited local people to design circular artworks based on the theme ‘What Hitchin means to me’  to be painted on the block.

Entries were split into different age categories and the 12 winning designs have been chosen. They will now be painted onto the front of the toilet block on Bancroft to create a vibrant centrepiece on one of Hitchin’s main thoroughfares.

‘We are delighted with the winning designs. They are beautifully bright and cheerful and reflect how much Hitchin means to the people who live here,’ said project organiser Liz Marfleet.
