Improvements were made to the banks of the river Hiz between Portmill Lane and where it disappears under Hermitage Road in Spring 1995.
Is it time to do something again now?
Sponsors of the work 20 years ago were Groundwork Hertfordshire, NHDC, English Partnerships, Hitchin Rivers Society and The Post Office.
The Post Office left Hermitage Road a few years later and Royal Mail a couple of years ago. When the new plans were submitted for redevelopment of that site, the river was noted as part of the improvements.
Here's hoping the work starts sooner rather than later and doesn't get forgotten about in the rush to find tenants and hotel visitors.
