Failure is simply life trying to move you in another direction

It probably won’t surprise you to hear that top of the resolution list every year for the past umpteen years has been “lose weight” – it even made the top 10 in 1947.  If ‘lose weight’ regularly appears on your New Year wish list I’m guessing you don’t yet have the body shape you want.  Why is that?

How do you ensure that this year will be the LAST time you find yourself wearily resolving to lose weight AGAIN!?

  • Don’t just look forward look back.  What worked in 2014 and what didn’t?  If you joined a gym in January 2014  but have rarely been there since Easter maybe the gym’s not right for you.  If you’re one of the few people who are getting good value for your gym membership and you’re still not the body shape you want maybe you need to change your workout routine.  Or perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at your eating habits.
  • Set specific resolutions.  When you frame your resolutions in concrete terms it lessens the gap between expectations and outcomes, increasing your sense of success and satisfaction.  So if you want to lose weight, how much do you want to lose?  Do you want to be a size 14, 12 or 10?  If you want to start running how many times a week will you run and how far do you ultimately want to go, 5k, 10k or further?
  • Back to basics.  There’s a reason the American College of Sports Medicine predict that the top two fitness trends for 2015 will be the same as 2014.  HIIT circuits and exercising using your bodyweight rather than fancy equipment are key ingredients to any weight loss programme.  They’re popular, effective and can be performed by almost anyone.  For those of you looking for the next trend have a go at Treadmill bootcamp or Punk rope and let me know how you get on.

These are three ways to help you achieve your weight loss resolutions.   Just remember what hasn’t worked in the past probably won’t work this time either.  But, don’t beat yourself up about past failures; just view it as life trying to move you in another direction.

If you’re serious about investing in yourself next year and want to know whether working with me is the right choice for you don’t waste another moment; contact me now and let’s get started!

Happy New Year!
