Around 1.3m people gathered along the River Mersey on Bank Holiday Monday to see the Cunard ships Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria in the river at the same time with a choreographed ‘dance’ of ships.

Celebrations were helped along by our own local business FTF Worldwide Event Management, who organised the logistics and even booked the Red Arrows to appear.

They're also regularly called upon to arrange Beatin gthe Retreat and other events on Horseguards Parade, including spectacular firework displays.

For the Cunard event, the FTF team arranged everything from 640m2 of red carpet for the VIPs to special lights along the quay and a balloon release as Queen Victoria sailed away behind her two sisters.

There were fireworks in abundance and a helicopter with FTF’s film crew and photographer gave media services great access to imagery.

To make sure everyone on shore and on board could enjoy the show, FTF set up synchronised sound between the ships and organised the logistics of having three immense ships ‘dance’ in formation.

Event Co-ordinator Tracey de Vere White said: “Liverpool’s Three Queens spectacular was the biggest waterfront event in the history of the city and we’re proud to have been a part of that.

“This is one of our most exciting events and one of the biggest for both the city and Cunard itself, as well.”
