From Accounting to Wedding Planning, Medical Terminology to Writing Creative Fiction, you can start learning a new skill today.
All of these courses, from Universal Class, offer the highest quality online learning experience. There have real instructors who you can contact via email, the lessons are often video-based, and there are both tests and practical assignments. You will have access to your course at any time, day or night.
Go to our website, www.hertsdirect.org/libraries, and then click on Online Library Services. As well as the catalogue, renewals and reservations, there is an option on the left to Start an Online Course. After entering your library card number and a short registration process, you will be able to enrol on any of these courses – up to five at a time, with six months to complete each one. Also on our online library services, we have our new free audiobook service, which you can find by clicking on New Audiobooks to Download. You can choose from hundreds of bestselling titles through One Click Digital, which you can download on to any computer (with a broadband internet connection) and then, if you wish, transfer onto an mp3 player/iPod.
There is unlimited availability with these titles, which means there is no waiting list for any of them. You can have up to 10 of these at a time, for a 21-day loan. There are books for all ages here too, from Diary of a Wimpy Kid to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, with new titles added every month. This amazing free service is available 24/7, and again just requires your library card number and a few registration details.
