What was most striking about this year's St George's Day parade (apart from the inclusion of Guide groups, alongside the Scouts) was the huge number of adult helpers and parents supporting along the way.
The town's uniformed organisations wouldn't be able to function without so many adults helping out. Many of them give hours outside the weekly meetings for preparation and training. ALl to provide a great experience for our young people.
Hitchin Scouts and Guides have always been proud to march through the town to mark St George's Day and this year they were accompanied by the impressive Epping Forest Pipe Band, who woke anyone enjoying the Sunday afternoon sunshine.
Proud parents lined the streets and joined for a brief service in the Market Place at the end of the parade.
