IT’S OFFICIAL, WE POUR A PERFECT PINT OF STELLA!
The Victoria Pub, Hitchin was entered into the UK finals of the STELLA DRAUGHTS MASTERS, which was held at the Design Museum, Towerbridge, London on Weds 13th October 2010. The Greene King pub attended an intensive training day held by Stella Artois and run by Master beer sommelier, Marc Stroobandt.
Awarded an honorary knighthood by the Chevalerie du Fourquet des Brasseurs of the Confederation of Belgian Brewers and titled Commander in the Order of De Roze Olifant, Marc graciously shared his knowledge and reckoned proper pouring is an easy nine-step process spanning purification, liquid alchemy,
the skim and the final bestowal.
The aim of the day was also to encourage licensee's and their staff
to appreciate lagers as you would fine wines and real ale. By learning key customer service skills, product knowledge and the art of the perfect pour, The Victoria then faced a mystery visit from CASK MARQUE to attain possible entry into the Master Draughts finals, a winning score 96% secured that place.
Bubbly bar tender Holly Lockhart, represented The Victoria as one of only 22 entrants into this prestigious event. After an exciting day of further training for Holly in the impressive surroundings of the Design Museum by tower Bridge, she went through to the finals walking away with the prestigious title of
BEST PERSONALITY, receiving a Cheque to the value of £100 and is now an official 'Un Créateur de Beauté'.
