Even if you and your family hasn't lived in Hitchin since 1806, you'll probably know the lovely King's Arms at the bottom of Bucklersbury.
It's been a proper local boozer as long as I can remember (I spent the evening of my 18th birthday in there and have played several of their jazz nights). Although it's been closed for three months, it looks like it might be reopening soon.
If a chain can get permission to convert the old Conservative Club into a massive pub and restaurant, then surely local boy Tom Brace deserves a chance to take a share of the market back into independent hands?
