OK, so I'm not old enough to remember Hitchin Market quite as it is in this picture, but it's not so long ago that it moved from the Market Square to its current position next to St Mary's Church and at the end of the currently controversial Churchgate.
All my life, Hitchin Market has been something for us all to be very, very proud of. It's moved with the times and embraced car booting, art and craft and given space for smaller businesses to trade.
There's a good piece on the Hitchin Forum site with more reasons to love it.
So, that's going to be my first recommendation in the 14 Days of Love campaign (even though I'm a single cynic when it comes to Valentine's Day). So much to recommend about Hitchin Market and all the traders, workers and management down there deserve to be shown some love.
Writer and sax player. Brought up in Hitchin and - apart from uni and some ensuing madness of life in London - I've always lived here.
