We are both unusual and fortunate as a town to have such enthusiastic traders - existing and in training - to fill our Market Square.
saturday's stalls were manned by students from North Herts College, with some truly enterprising ideas for their own small businesses. No doubt some will go on to be our very own entrepreneurs and Dragons of the future.
The snow held off and the sun shone once more today for Hitchin Gala Day. As we all try to shop locally and support our independent retailers, the town was packed with Christmas shoppers.
Don't forget that more of your money spent locally STAYS local and helps our community. We have some outstanding retailers in the town and they all deserve our support. As I find myself without a car, I'm discovering lots of present ideas on my doorstep, with friendly people in all the shops. Give it a try!
Use the map in the latest issue of the Comet to be in with a chance to win £400 of vouchers to spend locally as part of an Independent Christmas.
Writer and sax player. Brought up in Hitchin and - apart from uni and some ensuing madness of life in London - I've always lived here.
