The team behind the Protest March on Saturday 6 December are bringing people together to Save Hitchin, Save Top Field.
At a stall on the Market Place last Saturday, they were informing local shoppers about the benefits of having the club where it is, rather than turning Top Field over to developers.
There are many ideas of what the current Hitchin Town Football Club could be turned into, including a superstore or housing. Either way, most people seem to feel it would be a great loss to the community.
The reality is that many people who attend Hitchin Football Club games and social events walk there. They're realistically unlikely to do so if, as is proposed, the club is moved to land on the edge of town opposite Kingshott School.
The march on 6 December will start at Butts Close at 12:30pm with guest speakers. The walk through the town centre will finish with return to Top Field and free entry to the match against Poole Town.
