We should be proud of our young people. In this town, they are overwhelmingly good-mannered and aspirational. If you give them a chance, most of them have a strong sense of community, too.

- a group of youngsters trying to find a way to use available land for something that will keep them off the streets (literally in this case).

As the school holidays begin with a vengeance tomorrow, I'm sure there will be more children involved in holiday clubs and sporting activities than out causing trouble.

Mostly, they just need the chance to do something useful. How about we all give them that chance?
