Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North’s new project, Getting Carers Connected, empowers carers, and provide them with the skills to use the internet confidently.
They are shown by a team of volunteers how to access services, shop online, keep in touch with people using email or through social networking sites – helping them to alleviate their social isolation and stress and enabling them to be more independent.
This training is both in workshops and within carers own homes on a one to one basis. Once carers are trained and more confident it will not only open new doors to practical support and advice and time-saving ways of doing things (shopping and banking online etc)but also provide them with access to email, skype and social media – if they wish – and possibly extend their ability to socialise.
Isabel Bauckham, Project Coordinator, has been shortlisted for a TalkTalk Digital Hero Award for her work on Getting Carers Connected.
She needs your votes to help her win the 5k regional prize and hopefully go on to win a further 10k nationally.
Voting couldn’t be easier – just follow the link below and click on Isabel’s VOTE button!
