The Best of Hounslow Borough business member Strawberry Hill Golf Club has been honoured as winners of the High Achiever GolfMark Award, only the second club in the whole of Middlesex to win the award.
The award, developed by England Golf, recognises junior and beginner-friendly clubs.
The club currently has around 300 members, of whom almost one-third are women. The club’s junior section has more than doubled in the last two years, thanks to building links with local schools and community groups.
The youngsters are offered weekly group coaching, with a girls-only session once a month; to help them develop, juniors are included in all club fun competitions.
Strawberry Hill is also a centre for the Middlesex Golf Partnership’s County Academy Programme, which identifies and coaches boys and girls with potential. In addition, the club has worked with local schoolchildren with learning difficulties, for the past four years.
Strawberry Hill Golf Club is about to become a Get into Golf centre, supporting the England Golf Partnership’s national campaign to encourage both male and female adult beginners to try the game by offering free taster sessions.
