When West London musician Eamonn Cann played his last gig in the UK before setting off for a new life in New Zealand, he had no idea that his first gig on his return to his homeland would be at the very same venue - The Gunnersbury in Chiswick.
Renowned as a music venue for many years The Gunnersbury has recently undergone extensive renovations and restyling into a more sophisticated dining and music venue and in the same way musician Eamonn Cann has transformed his musical talents too - from live acoustic to the elegance of Sinatra's smooth sounds, which make the most of his unique and distinctive voice.
'The Sinatra Experience is not another tribute act,' commented Eamonn. 'It is about exploring and presenting some of the 900 songs that Sinatra performed and recorded, taking the audience on a journey of his fascinating life. In between the music the show is full of interesting anecdotes about Sinatra and how he worked with the best musicians in the business to perfect his art, about his life and lost loves and how all of that influenced his music.'
Eamonn Cann will be in residence at The Gunnersbury every Saturday evening from the end of October until Christmas, presenting his Sinatra Experience Show each week, which will have an Italian theme and will include The Gunnersbury's finest Italian food with an Italian meal & ticket price £25 two courses, £30 three courses.
For those who just want to come and enjoy the music without the dining experience the tickets will be £12. Richard Mogliany, owner/proprietor of The Gunnersbury commented: 'Eamonn's return to London has been perfect timing for all of us and we are looking forward to presenting our Sinatra Saturdays. Eamonn has a voice that really touches the soul and was such a popular act when he played here before going to New Zealand. We are sure that our regular, new customers and Christmas parties will enjoy this extraordinary show and have a great time.'
'It is such a joy to be back home in West London and to reconnect to the music community and especially with Richard at The Gunnersbury, who has always been a great supporter and friend,' said Eamonn Cann. Eamonn has been honing and developing his Sinatra Experience over the last few years in New Zealand, playing at a wide range of top venues on both islands at theatres and casinos, on large yachts and even singing 'Fly me to the Moon' to the renowned American astronaut Nick Auck who commanded the famous Challenger Missions.
'It has been wonderful to play so many interesting and diverse venues and I am looking forward to performing again in London at The Gunnesbury. It is great to see the resurgence of interest in this genre of music and to see such a wide range of ages from 20's upwards, enjoying the sounds of Sinatra,' commented Eamonn.
Eamonn has also been invited to sing as a guest with Winston Rollins Big Band, usually seen backing Jools Holland on his TV show, at one of The Gunnesbury's popular Jazz Sundays on 27th October. He is also looking forward to working with big band leader Frank Griffiths and has plans for a Quintet and also working with a renowned pianist for more intimate events.
'I grew up listening to the sounds of Nat King Cole, Sinatra and that genre of music and it is funny how things go full circle. Here I am singing the kind of music that my late father sang to me, which if he were still alive I am sure he would find that touching and amusing â sometimes we would sing along to this music together in the car and I see those times as my first rehearsals!' concluded Eamonn Cann.
The Sinatra Experience will be on at The Gunnersbury each Saturday including 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th November, 7th, 14th, 21st December - dining from 7pm and the show begins at 8.30 pm.
The Gunnersbury is located at 590 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5RP just opposite Gunnersbury tube station. For more information email Richard at info@thegunnesbury.com or telephone 020 8742 7466.
