Large queues formed outside the Galpharm Stadium this morning, with supporters clamouring to be amongst the first to secure their seats for the big day at Wembley on Saturday 19th August against Warrington Wolves.
With supporters arriving at the stadium as early as 8am and extra staff taken on to cope with the demand, giantsrl.com spoke to a number of fans who are excited ahead of the big day.
There was also a poignant moment during the morning with Head Coach Nathan Brown arriving at the Galpharm Stadium to rapturous applause from the claret and gold fanatics.
20 year old Danielle Ellis of Pontefract was the first to purchase when the Stadium Ticket Office opened:
“Yesterday was a brilliant day, there’s four of us going down to Wembley. I went to Twickenham in 2006 and I wanted to be first in line to get my tickets today, we are definitely going to do it on the big day!”
Sue Toddlington of Rastrick, Brighouse was also at the front of the queue:
“It’s awesome to be going to Wembley, we can’t believe it! We are making a weekend of it, I’ve been going for the last twelve years now and this is by far the highlight.”
68 year old Peter Firth of Mirfield experienced one of the proudest moments in his six decades of supporting the club at yesterday’s semi-final.
“I’ve been following the club around 60 years now, since the days of Pat Devery and co. It’s a brilliant achievement in itself to be going down to Wembley, you can tell the camaraderie of the team is brilliant; the atmosphere round the whole club is superb. Nathan Brown is a super person and a super coach, I’m very confident that the cup is coming back to Huddersfield.”
Zoe Stott of Cowersley is already excited ahead of the showdown at the national stadium.
“We have followed the Giants for as long as I can remember, I’ve been too the old Wembley and the atmosphere generated is electric, 19 days and counting!”
