People rely on the internet so much these days that, when it isn't working properly, at best it's frustrating but at worst it means business stops.
Having a reliable broadband is essential. However, from time to time things will go wrong and it's at such times that you discover just how good your internet provider is.
In my friends case he is with Tiscali and has been for some time. When the internet wouldn't work he called the helpline and got through to TalkTalk who took over Tiscali last year. They were unable to help as they were TalkTalk operators and not Tiscali (??) and whats more refused to give a number for someone from Tiscali who could help. All they were interested in was trying to selling a package for TalkTalk and not resolving the problem.
Eventually, a number was given, but the Tiscali operators simply said it was a fault with the laptop which wasn't the case. After 3 very long calls lasting nearly 3 hours nothing was resolved and no help given just repeated sales pitches for the transfer to a new package. The laptop was taken to a local computer specialist who found nothing wrong.
The day after, broadband was back and operating normally!
Is this some cynical ploy to get people to move to a different package? If for operational and service reasons it would be actually be better for the customer, why not simply say so?
