Lions Club of Ipswich
Monday 2nd September
The Lions Club of Ipswich are pleased to announce a brand new fundraising event for this Autumn. Ipswich Lion’s first ever Conker Championship will be held at Bourne Vale Social Club, Halifax Road, Ipswich on Friday 18th October with all proceeds from the evening going to local charities and good causes.
Do you remember the days in the playground, the weather was frosty and you were in short trousers, playing conkers with your mates? Now’s your chance to relive those memories, have fun, and help raise money for charity!
The evening will consist of a knock out style conker competition, with trophies for both the winning male and female, plus a prize for the best tryer, and is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Entry is just £6 per player, this includes supper and there will also be a raffle on the night. All conkers will be provided by the Lions Club of Ipswich, so there is no need to bring your own. Application forms are available from Lion Wendy Cook on 01473 715599 or you can email wendy@fizzwig.co.uk and must be returned by Monday 7th October 2013.
All members of the Lions Club of Ipswich are volunteers who give up their spare time to help raise money for charity and to help others. Recent projects that have been supported by the group include St John’s Ambulance, The Shelley Centre who offer riding for the disabled, St Elizabeth Hospice at Home Team and SERV. This year the Club are raising money for a bladder scanner for Ipswich Hospital.
The Ipswich Lions Club are always looking for new members, so if you would like to volunteer your time and help worthy local causes then The Club would love to here from you. Telephone 0845 833 2804 or email Ipswich-lions@anglianet.co.uk for more information
