Rory Marriott, Ipswich parkrun's Event Director, said: "The distance our participants have managed to cover in such a relatively short space of time is further evidence of how the Ipswich community have fully embraced the parkrun concept and made it the success it is." This milestone comes only weeks after the project's success at the Suffolk sports awards.
Councillor Bryony Rudkin, the Borough's Culture portfolio-holder, said: "It is simply fantastic to see such an incredible community spirit and achievement in this wonderful project. My congratulations and admiration extends to all with the Ipswich parkrun team." Chantry Park hosts the free family-orientated run every Saturday morning with runners set off around the picturesque route at 9am.
