Join the University of Suffolk and Flatford National Trust for a series of Creative Writing workshops set in the beautiful site of Flatford in Suffolk - All are welcome to join us, whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced writer. Each workshop will include a special tour and talk by a member of the National Trust team.

Each workshop is designed to inspire your own creative response to the nature and heritage of Flatford. Make the most of this beautiful landscape so beloved of Constable and create a personal picture of your National Trust visit in your own words. All are welcome to join us, whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced writer.

These friendly and supportive workshops welcome groups and individuals and will focus on helping you put your personal experience and expression into words that you can keep and share with others. Saturday 21 September 2024 Join international best selling author and creative writing tutor Amanda Hodgkinson for a workshop on Writing the landscape: a writing workshop inspired by Constable country. This workshop will engage with and draw you closer to the natural landscape and wildlife at Flatford. This will include a talk and tour in Valley Farm Kitchen Garden.

Saturday 19 October 2024 Join writer and award winning poet Jeni Neill for a writing workshop  I saw a kingfisher: a nature-writing workshop inspired by Flatford and the River Stour This workshop considers the history and natural beauty of the River Stour that runs through Flatford as inspiration for poetry, memoir and short stories.

Saturday 16 November 2024 Join writer Sarah Waterson for A sense of history: a writing workshop inspired by Flatford through the years This workshop focuses on the history of Flatford, whilst reflecting on its role in our lives today. The workshop will give you insights and tips on historical fiction and the ways in which we are all part of the history of this beautiful National Trust site. This will include a talk and tour in Bridge Cottage.
